Did you hear the question? Did you hear what they were really asking? The question wasn’t about Apple’s market share or if it’s trying to appeal to the elite.
The question was about Apple’s values, and Jobs answered accordingly.
“Our goal is to make the best personal computers in the world and make products we are proud to sell and happy to recommend to our family and friends.”
While Jobs is clever and witty, you would be mistaken if you thought he just came up with that response on the spot. This is the result of achieving clarity around your mission and values and communicating those daily.
This ability is not only for outliers like Steve Jobs. You can do this too. Too many nonprofit leaders and professional fundraisers write themselves off as not having the ability to communicate.
